About the position

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid at NEOMED plays a crucial role in supporting the university's mission to attract and retain qualified students through effective financial aid administration. This position is responsible for managing the scholarship program, ensuring compliance with regulations, and utilizing financial aid systems to enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of financial aid programs in alignment with institutional goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce reports and evaluate reporting data for financial aid and scholarship analysis.
  • Assist in the administration of various financial aid programs, including federal, state, and institutional aid.
  • Coordinate the review and eligibility criteria of institutional scholarship programs to support the university's goals.
  • Determine eligibility and award scholarships in accordance with university/program policies and procedures.
  • Explore new financial aid opportunities through local, state, and federal organizations.
  • Co-manage compliance and independently conduct compliance research with external entities such as U.S. Department of Education, Ohio Department of Higher Education, NASFAA, and others as needed.
  • Assist the director in policy and procedures development and monitoring regulatory changes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and institutional aid programs, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Co-manage the internal operations calendar.
  • Independently configure, manage, and process data for FSA Partner Connect, ERP (currently Ellucian Banner) and all related systems.
  • Analyze reporting needs and collaborate with Information Technology to create reports that improve operations and assist with strategic decisions.
  • Compile mid-year and year-end reports.
  • Represent the financial aid office on university and community committees in support of the director.
  • Assist director with attending ongoing training and professional development to stay current with regulations and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a higher education financial aid office or related experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing, and presentation software
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as necessary

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Three years related experience
  • Sales data system, ERP or CRM experience
  • Working knowledge of Federal financial aid websites and software, including but not limited to FSA Partner Connect websites and EdConnect
