About the position

The Assistant Director of Food Service is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and managing staff. This role involves menu planning, nutrition management, and monitoring food preparation and service to patients and cafeteria areas.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the dietary department.
  • Plan menus and manage nutrition-related clerical duties.
  • Monitor food preparation and serving to patients and in cafeteria areas.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage budgeting, purchasing, sanitation, safety, staffing, and staff development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in food service or dietary management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Dietetics and Administration, with 1 year in Long Term Care management.
  • CDM certification required or willingness to pursue within one year of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of food service equipment and its care.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition or Food Service Administration preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
