About the position

The Assistant Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University of Texas at Dallas plays a crucial role in enhancing the fraternity and sorority experience for approximately 1,000 students across 26 organizations. This position focuses on advising governing councils, developing programming resources, and promoting personal development opportunities within the Fraternity & Sorority Life community. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and aims to foster a supportive and inclusive environment for student leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Advise governing councils, chapters, and student leaders.
  • Provide resources for councils, organizations, and members of the community.
  • Collaborate with advisors, university officials, alumni, and inter/national headquarters staff.
  • Conduct educational and developmental opportunities for students at different levels of involvement.
  • Recruit, oversee selection, supervise, and train FSL Office student employees.
  • Promote inclusivity in all aspects of the fraternity and sorority experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of three years experience advising fraternal organizations or student activities.
  • Knowledge of Greek organizations and council systems; university experience.
  • Strong verbal & written communication abilities; presentation speaking abilities; event planning & management skills.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in Greek Life or student affairs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Development, Counseling, or related discipline.
  • Undergraduate membership in a nationally recognized fraternity or sorority.
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated success advising college students and developing student leaders.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and perform work with a high degree of accuracy.
