About the position

The Assistant Director of Gift Planning at Northern Arizona University (NAU) is responsible for overseeing donor cultivation activities and integrating planned giving into the university's strategic fundraising efforts. This role involves collaborating with development officers to diversify funding resources and engage donors in long-term financial planning, including the creation of blended gifts and endowments. The Assistant Director will manage a portfolio of major and planned gift prospects, conduct donor visits, and develop strategic marketing plans to enhance donor engagement and secure significant contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and engage a comprehensive portfolio of major and planned gift prospects.
  • Annually solicit major and planned gifts and raise funds toward the Advancement | Foundation's fundraising objectives.
  • Execute face-to-face and virtual visits with donors.
  • Partner with development officers, deans, and campus leadership to identify planned giving prospects and secure gifts.
  • Collaborate with university partners to secure alumni and friends' planned gift commitments.
  • Create and execute a strategic marketing plan for gift planning prospects.
  • Develop relevant gift planning content for multi-channel campaigns and track responses to marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborate on the organization and execution of high-profile gift planning events.
  • Ensure the Gift Planning website and fundraising dashboards are accurate and showcase current campaigns.
  • Conduct high-level analysis and develop gift planning reports for leadership.
  • Develop and implement donor stewardship strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing meaningful giving relationships with a portfolio of individuals who can be high-level planned gift donors.
  • 2-4 years of management experience.
