About the position

The Assistant Director of HR Operations is responsible for overseeing and executing various functions within the HR Operations unit of the Department of Athletics and Student Recreation at Vanderbilt University. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating HR policies and procedures, managing student employment, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and SEC regulations. The position requires collaboration with hiring managers and compliance offices to support the department's operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute all areas of student employment for the Department of Athletics and Student Recreation
  • Develop and execute internal processes to support department hiring managers in student employment
  • Conduct informational sessions for hiring managers to communicate current processes and best practices
  • Monitor student employment payroll and assist with issues as needed
  • Troubleshoot Oracle issues on behalf of the department's employees
  • Work with the athletics compliance office to ensure personnel compliance with NCAA and SEC rules
  • Coordinate employment efforts for assigned sports camps and clinics
  • Ensure all camp/clinic employees are cleared to work prior to the start date
  • Confirm Protection of Minors compliance for assigned camps
  • Coordinate the department's volunteer process while ensuring compliance with policies
  • Manage compliance with Protection of Minors training for Athletics and Recreation & Wellness
  • Coordinate all taxable benefit items for payroll as requested
  • Assist with payroll for both bi-weekly and monthly employees as needed
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Prior experience with collegiate and/or professional athletics preferred
  • Prior experience with HR processes preferred
  • General knowledge of labor laws
  • High level of organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability to handle and communicate confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations
