About the position

Wilson College is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Institutional Research who will work alongside the Director of Institutional Effectiveness & Research. The Assistant Director will be responsible for analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate outcomes, compliance, and the efficiency of the institution. This role is crucial in ensuring that the institution's data is accurate, systematically housed, and periodically evaluated for usefulness. The Assistant Director will also assist in managing the department's webpages, Factbook, Dashboards, Common Data Set, and other published data, ensuring that all institutional data is readily available and effectively communicated. In addition to data management, the Assistant Director will construct queries to pull institutional data from various database systems for federal, state, and institutional reporting. This includes producing technical documentation and instructions regarding departmental processes and reports. The role requires collaboration with individuals from other offices to collect and interpret data required for reporting, as well as assisting in conducting institutional research studies to support planning and evaluation activities across departments. The Assistant Director will also play a key role in strategic planning by examining data trends and patterns to identify areas for improvement and assess the impact of existing programs. This position involves working on special projects directed by the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research, which may focus on specific aspects of institutional performance or address unique challenges faced by the institution. Effective communication skills are essential for presenting findings, sharing insights, and facilitating discussions with institutional leaders, faculty, and staff to ensure that data-driven decisions align with the institution's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of IER with management of the department's webpages, Factbook, Dashboards, Common Data Set, and other published data.
  • Construct queries to pull institutional data from Colleague and other database systems for federal, state, and institutional reporting.
  • Produce technical documentation and instruction regarding departmental processes and reports.
  • Ensure that data needed for institutional initiatives are accurate, collected regularly, housed systematically, and evaluated periodically for usefulness.
  • Manage data requests and schedule for submissions.
  • Collaborate with individuals from other offices to collect/interpret data required for federal, state, and institutional reporting.
  • Assist the Director of IER in conducting institutional research studies to assist departments with planning and evaluation activities.
  • Implement data initiatives as directed by the Director of IER.
  • Perform other job-related duties as deemed necessary.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to student outcomes, enrollment trends, program effectiveness, and overall institutional effectiveness.
  • Examine data trends and patterns to contribute to strategic planning efforts.
  • Work on special projects as directed by the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research.
  • Contribute to the development of institutional policies based on research and analysis.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and monitor progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in data science, computer programming or related field.
  • Three to five years' application experience in data analysis, collection, and reporting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience related to the essential functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of the Middle States accreditation requirements is preferred.
  • Substantial experience in educational assessment or related field.
  • Experience with program evaluation, research design, or project management.
  • Development of data collection instruments.
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience working with faculty and staff on outcomes assessment and strategic planning.
  • Knowledge of current and innovative practices in assessment and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of regional and specialized accreditation.
  • Knowledge of database development and connectivity tools and techniques.
