The Assistant Director of K12 Outreach Operations at the UAF School of Education is a pivotal role aimed at enhancing the Grow Your Own (GYO) educator preparation programs across Alaska. This position is designed to support the development and implementation of high-quality educator pathways that are tailored to meet the needs of local communities. The successful candidate will engage in partnership building with various stakeholders, including school districts, community organizations, the Department of Education and Early Development (DEED), and the University of Alaska (UA) educator preparation programs. This collaborative effort is essential for fostering robust GYO initiatives that empower local residents to pursue careers in education. In this role, the Assistant Director will coordinate activities across three key programs: the Educators Rising program, the Alaska State Mentor Program (ASMP), and the Alaska Teacher and Personnel (AT&P) program. The responsibilities will include working closely with the EdRising program manager to facilitate transitional services for high school students entering UA educator preparation programs, collaborating with the ASMP manager to support early career development for new educators, and assisting the AT&P program manager in developing effective recruitment strategies that leverage the resources of EdRising and ASMP. The position also involves travel to both urban and rural communities throughout Alaska, providing opportunities to engage directly with diverse educational environments. The ideal candidate for this position will possess a strong background in education, having served in various roles such as a classroom educator, teacher mentor, or school administrator. They should demonstrate exceptional time management skills, the ability to solve problems both independently and collaboratively, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with stakeholders and promoting the GYO initiatives across the state.
