About the position

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for leading the nursing team and ensuring high standards of patient care within the facility. This role involves overseeing nursing operations, enhancing patient outcomes, and fostering a collaborative environment among staff. The ADON will work closely with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) to supervise nursing programs, monitor patient care, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the restorative nursing and wound care programs in conjunction with the DNS.
  • Monitor and assess new skin observation alerts.
  • Develop nursing care plans for residents at risk or currently experiencing skin integrity issues, including treatment protocols.
  • Provide education to residents and staff.
  • Collaborate with physical therapy and nursing staff to maintain nursing rehabilitation programs.
  • Supervise, monitor, and direct nursing personnel to ensure proper wound care for residents.
  • Assess residents to determine risk factors for contractures, skin breakdown, and deterioration in activities of daily living (ADLs) to develop a nursing rehab plan of care.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of care plans through direct observations and weekly wound rounds/reassessments.

Requirements

  • Current RN license with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in nurse management within acute care or hospice care settings.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, resident rights, and best practices in nursing home environments.
  • Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead a diverse team effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in patient care quality and staff development.

Nice-to-haves
