About the position

The Assistant Director of Operations (Cruise Services) is responsible for overseeing the functions and employees within the Operations Division's Cruise Services Section at Port Everglades. This role involves managing cruise operations, ensuring smooth terminal functionality, and enhancing guest experiences while collaborating with various stakeholders. The position requires strong leadership and operational management skills, as well as the ability to develop performance metrics and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, administration, and direction of the Cruise Services Section.
  • Manage all aspects of cruise operations including staff, terminal functionality, and dockside provisioning activities.
  • Coordinate with cruise line executives and local authorities to address customer needs and resolve disputes.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for the Operations Division Cruise Services Section.
  • Provide performance reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Serve as the primary contact for enhancing guest experiences during port visits.
  • Monitor parking availability, terminal security, and traffic issues.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of Work Orders for terminal maintenance and repairs.
  • Coordinate with various departments for operational readiness and scheduling.
  • Manage human resources and labor relations issues within the Cruise Services Section.
  • Review daily activity reports and track parking revenue.
  • Supervise the development of work schedules for maintenance workers and ensure adequate staffing.
  • Collaborate with marketing to strengthen cruise business objectives and expand the Port's presence in the industry.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, management, or a closely related field.
  • Six years of progressive work in operations management or closely related experience.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).

Nice-to-haves

  • Ten years of high-level experience managing cruise terminal operations.
  • Ten years of experience managing a large workforce of over 30 people.
  • Ten years of experience managing contract negotiations.
  • Six years of direct experience managing division/section-level budgets.
