About the position

The Assistant Director of Hospitality and Event Services at UMass Lowell is responsible for leading and managing the operational support for internal and external university events. This role involves supervising both professional and student staff, ensuring effective event setup operations, and representing the university positively in all interactions. The position requires a strong focus on customer service and the ability to meet rapid deadlines while maintaining high standards of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the management and implementation of internal and external events.
  • Supervise professional and student staff throughout the year.
  • Manage event setup operations for internal and external users and special events across campus.
  • Support the University and the Office of Hospitality & Events in event execution.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3 - 5 years of experience in operations and event management.
  • High degree of professionalism in internal and external communications.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products and/or services.
  • Experience with supervision and demonstrated project and team management skills.
  • Expertise level in Microsoft Office Software.
  • Proficient in using Adobe Cloud Suite.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasive skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and ability to represent the University positively.
  • Knowledgeable regarding University issues and policies.
