About the position

The Assistant Director of Operations is a highly visible role that reports directly to the Director of Operations and is a member of the Assistant Leadership Committee. This position primarily focuses on overseeing and supporting hotel services, particularly in the Spa, Food & Beverage Department, and Gas Station. The Assistant Director of Operations plays a crucial role in maximizing room revenues and occupancy by analyzing daily status rates and making necessary adjustments to maintain the highest brand standards. In this role, you will manage large events and ensure that special requirements for high volume occupancy are met. You will be responsible for analyzing rate variances, monitoring credit reports, and maintaining close observation of daily house counts. Additionally, you will coordinate major projects such as renovations, capital expenditures, and equipment changes. Conducting weekly Rooms Divisions meetings and monthly financial reviews with subordinate managers and senior hotel directors will be part of your responsibilities. You will also prepare revenue and occupancy forecasting and monitor labor expenses through the schedule approval process. Hiring, managing, and training subordinate managers and employees will be essential to your success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for short- and long-term planning and management of all hotel operations
  • Staff training; coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
  • Ensure all hotel operations are done per Hyatt policies and procedures
  • Direct the implementation of payroll, reports, forecasts, inventory, and budget for all departments
  • Implement procedures to increase guest and associate satisfaction
  • Maintain Hyatt standards of service and ensure their implementation
  • Develop and recommend the budget, marketing plans, and objectives and manage within approved plans
  • Ability to assimilate operational statistics quickly and see how they can be used to enhance the position of the property

Requirements

  • Progressive Hotel Management experience (typically with Hyatt)
  • Retail and/or Spa Leadership experience preferred
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight
  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment
  • Service-oriented style with professional skills
  • Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader
  • Proven track record in high volume concept
  • Effective communicator
  • Experience developing standards and operating procedures
