About the position

At Bon Appetit Management Company, the Assistant Director of Operations plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service facilities. The Assistant Director will provide primary support to ensure ideal workflow and exceptional service, working closely with the management team to establish and review standards and work procedures for all staff in accordance with the established policies and practices of the facility. The Assistant Director will direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs, while also maintaining excellent relationships with clients and customers. This position requires a proactive mindset to anticipate and support changes in our business, ensuring client and customer satisfaction through efficient and cost-effective management. The Assistant Director will also promote the professional growth and development of all associates, coordinating the tasks of the supervisory and management team through regular communication. This role is essential in driving the success of our operations and ensuring that our staff is engaged and motivated to deliver outstanding service. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Assistant Director will be involved in various administrative tasks, including performance evaluations and staff training. Responsibilities

  • Establish and review standards and work procedures for all staff in accordance with established policies and practices of the facility.
  • Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs while maintaining excellent relationships with clients and customers.
  • Assist in ensuring client and customer satisfaction and efficient cost-effective management.
  • Promote the professional growth and development of all associates.
  • Coordinate the tasks of the subordinate supervisory and management team via regular communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate's degree required; or equivalent and relevant experience.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory role.
  • Superior quantitative, oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills.
  • Proactive mindset to anticipate and support changes in the business.
  • Demonstrates high standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior.
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills.
  • Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service.
  • Proficient computer skills preferred.
  • Prior experience managing, leading multiple units.
  • Prior experience managing in a union environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in contract food service management.
