About the position

The Assistant Director of Physical Security Systems and Project Management at St. John's University is responsible for overseeing the functionality of critical security systems and projects across all university campuses. This role involves managing a team, developing security roadmaps, and ensuring adherence to best practices in physical security. The position requires strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining budgetary constraints and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing short/long term physical security roadmap by assessing the physical security program across all campuses.
  • Coordinate and forecast with Public Safety senior leadership to develop remediation plans utilizing operational and capital expenditure budgets.
  • Assist in the implementation of Public Safety's vision by managing project initiatives, including planning, monitoring, and closing projects.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Support Specialist on the operational aspects of various security systems.
  • Coordinate the installation and maintenance of physical security infrastructure, including card readers and surveillance cameras.
  • Initiate and maintain working relationships with colleagues and manage vendor relationships for the Physical Security Program.
  • Maintain accurate accounts of security system assets and conduct regular audits to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Supervise the Technical Support Specialist, PS Safety Systems Analyst, Payroll Analyst, Graduate Assistant, and student workers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management with emphasis on project planning, risk assessment, and resource management.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and/or certifications such as PMP.
  • Extensive knowledge and usage of Lenel OnGuard, Kronos, Genetec Security Center, and other related software.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
