About the position

The Assistant Director of Research and Pipeline Development at Providence College plays a crucial role in identifying, researching, and analyzing prospects for major and leadership gift cultivation and solicitation. This position is integral to supporting the Advancement team in achieving its fundraising goals by providing essential information, knowledge, coordination, and tools. The Assistant Director will partner with gift officers to inform prospect strategies and assist in moving prospective donors through various stages of the fundraising cycle. In this role, the Assistant Director will employ advanced research data collection and analysis skills to proactively identify and assess the philanthropic giving capacity of prospective donors. This includes accurately analyzing complex financial disclosure documents, real estate, and other wealth indicators to determine accurate capacity ratings. The position also involves providing insights on private company valuations and analyzing hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity to ascertain net worth. The Assistant Director will assist the director in developing plans and strategies for managing and expanding the overall pool of prospects and donors through a variety of proactive prospect identification projects. Collaboration with fundraising teams, particularly in developing the leadership gift program, is essential to ensure that fundraiser portfolios are robust and contain strong, viable prospects supported by a continual flow of newly identified and efficiently rated prospect donors. The role requires maintaining a working knowledge of all functions and systems related to prospect management, including software applications, industry best practices, and department policies, while safeguarding the confidentiality of constituent information.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and analyze prospects for major and leadership gift cultivation and solicitation.
  • Employ advanced research data collection and analysis skills to assess the philanthropic giving capacity of prospective donors.
  • Analyze complex financial disclosure documents and other wealth indicators for accurate capacity ratings.
  • Provide information on private company valuations and analyze hedge funds, venture capital, and private equity for net worth determination.
  • Assist in developing plans and strategies for managing and expanding the pool of prospects and donors.
  • Work closely with fundraising teams to develop the leadership gift program and ensure robust fundraiser portfolios.
  • Maintain research and portfolio data in CRM, including assignment data, research information, and capacity ratings.
  • Safeguard and uphold the confidentiality of constituent information.
  • Assist with maintenance of biographical, employment, education, and family relationship data as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Three to five years' experience in higher education, development, fundraising, or healthcare, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Advanced experience working in a CRM system, with specific knowledge of Salesforce Affinaquest preferred.
  • Strong research and technical skills, including proficiency with electronic research sources and online databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to navigate a complex work environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to present information and ideas in a group setting.
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality.
