About the position

The Assistant Director of Strategic Communications at the Atlantic Sun Conference plays a crucial role in managing communications activities, media relations, and digital content for the conference. This position involves coordinating press releases, managing website content, and serving as the primary media contact for assigned sports, while also supporting marketing and partnership initiatives. The role requires flexibility in working hours, including nights and weekends, due to the nature of collegiate athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the coordination of all ASUN communications activities including press releases, press conferences, media coordination, website management, and sports information.
  • Manage website standings and statistics as assigned.
  • Serve as the primary media contact for assigned sports, providing game day coverage and website updates.
  • Update and report standings, statistics, and record books as assigned.
  • Assist in Player of the Week selections.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of content for social media and championships.
  • Assist in the management of the conference's main and ancillary social media platforms in alignment with the ASUN Digital Strategies Plan.
  • Assist in the coordination of the ASUN Honors and Awards Programs, including weekly and seasonal awards, as assigned.
  • Manage all ASUN Record Books as assigned.
  • Assist with marketing and partnership fulfillment, in support of the External Team goals and objectives.
  • Travel to and provide on-site support for ASUN championships and events as assigned.
  • Responsible for alternate and/or additional duties as assigned by the Commissioner.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge and experience in athletic communications.
  • Knowledge, experience, or interest in external operations strategies.
  • Experience in Photoshop required.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
  • A willingness to travel and work extended hours (nights and weekends).
