About the position

The Assistant Director of Research Health Equity at Case Western Reserve University plays a crucial role in executing the goals of the Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Northern Ohio. This position focuses on promoting diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible clinical and translational research, fostering partnerships with community members, and supporting researchers in developing programs that address health disparities. The role involves strategic planning, community engagement, and resource allocation to enhance research opportunities and outcomes for underrepresented groups.

Responsibilities

  • Promote partnerships and collaborations between the collaborative, its partners, and community members to facilitate diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible clinical and translational science research projects.
  • Support researchers in building research programs through Research Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion (READI) Consultations.
  • Provide community and stakeholder engagement outreach for all activities of the Community & Stakeholder Engagement Module.
  • Coordinate activities with the Community Advisory Board to enhance interactions between the board and engagement module activities.
  • Provide resources and consultation for faculty to identify and secure funding opportunities for research projects addressing health disparities.
  • Work with faculty to design, execute, and evaluate the collaborative's Research Health Equity strategic plan.
  • Create and evaluate community outreach strategies to address barriers to recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups in clinical trials.
  • Collaborate with the Workforce Development module to create equitable and inclusive educational programs for translational research professionals.
  • Manage a clinical and translational science diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility advocacy agenda.
  • Work with the evaluation team to design and implement evaluation plans for all duties.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or relevant professional degree preferred.
  • 8 or more years of transferable healthcare, program management, or programming expertise in a nonprofit setting.
  • Experience in clinical research capacity, with emphasis on community outreach and engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License required.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary, multicultural collaborations.
  • Demonstrated work experience with communities of color or underrepresented minorities.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and management skills.
  • Experience with database management and fiscal management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of and experience with nonprofit organizations, foundations, or socially-responsible businesses.
  • Experience in grant writing and management.
  • Computer competency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe.
