About the position

The Assistant Director of University Events at Colgate University is responsible for the successful administration and execution of various events that support institutional and strategic initiatives. This role involves overseeing event production, managing budgets, and ensuring adherence to branding standards while collaborating with a diverse group of constituents.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the execution of various levels of events from routine to complex in support of institutional/strategic initiatives.
  • Build and manage accurate budgets, ensuring adherence throughout the planning process and identifying cost-saving measures.
  • Provide branding and content guidance to internal clients, promoting the University brand standards.
  • Deliver reconciled budgets to internal clients post-event and schedule debriefs and surveys to gather feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable professional experience is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a highly collaborative nature.
  • Knowledge of event planning concepts, principles, and practices, including event design and vendor relations.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply good judgment and professionalism while multitasking in high-pressure situations.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and other federal/state/local laws and regulations preferred.
