About the position

The Assistant Director position at the Department of the Treasury involves overseeing special program reviews and analyses focused on combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crimes. The role requires collaboration with various U.S. government agencies and international partners to develop strategies that protect the financial system from abuse. This position is critical in providing technical advice to senior management and leading efforts to disrupt national security threats through financial means.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director in managing a regional or functional office, providing technical advice to senior management, and monitoring staff performance.
  • Develop strategies to disrupt the financing of national security threats and protect the international financial system.
  • Represent the Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes (TFFC) on U.S. government working groups and interagency committees related to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT).
  • Provide leadership and expert guidance in the development of policies regarding the misuse of the commercial banking system for criminal or terrorist purposes.
  • Manage complex professional, management, technical, and policy responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, including leading programs focused on money laundering and terrorist financing.
  • Experience working with teams on multiple projects of broad impact.
  • Ability to perform analyses and comprehensive program reviews.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing illicit finance policy.
  • Familiarity with cross-agency activities related to financial crimes.
