Responsibilities
- Assess domestic violence reports and make screening decisions on felony domestic violence offenses.
- Maintain a caseload of high-risk domestic violence misdemeanor and felony cases.
- Make appropriate plea offers and work with victims to shepherd cases through the criminal justice system.
- Prepare witnesses and collaborate with law enforcement and defense attorneys.
- Present evidence and argue motions for bail on high-risk cases.
- Conduct legal research for the prosecution of felony cases.
- Represent the District Attorney with professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
- Establish and improve relationships between the District Attorney's Office and the community.
Requirements
- Member of the Louisiana Bar in good standing.
- Ability to conduct legal research and apply legal analysis to factual scenarios.
- Public speaking ability and effective communication skills.
- Comfort with technology and ability to learn case management software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weeks of over 40 hours.
- Dependability in both attendance and work product.
