About the position
The Assistant District Permit Manager plays a crucial role in the Highway Occupancy Permit Unit, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and policies for highway access. This position involves evaluating designs, processing permits, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance highway safety and policy enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Handle engineering tasks within the Highway Occupancy Permit Unit to ensure compliance with standards and guidelines.
- Evaluate designs for new driveways to ensure they meet regulations.
- Hold meetings with applicants, staff, consultants, and local authorities regarding highway access.
- Assist County Maintenance Organizations with safety-related driveway issues.
- Process occupancy permits, maintain records, manage fees, and prepare reports.
- Assess the need for security measures based on proposed work's scope and engineering estimates.
- Review insurance documents for permitted projects.
- Train staff on using various measuring tools.
- Evaluate the impact of proposed developments on neighboring properties.
Requirements
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate.
- Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program.
- Four years of civil engineering experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a related discipline.
- One year of civil engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
