About the position
The Assistant District Permit Manager is responsible for overseeing engineering tasks within the Highway Occupancy Permit Unit, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations for highway access. This role involves evaluating designs, processing permits, and collaborating with various stakeholders to address safety and regulatory issues related to highway occupancy.
Responsibilities
- Handle engineering tasks within the Highway Occupancy Permit Unit (HOP).
- Evaluate designs for new driveways to ensure compliance with regulations and engineering guidelines.
- Hold meetings with applicants, staff, consultants, and local authorities regarding access to highway rights of way.
- Assist County Maintenance Organizations with driveway issues that pose safety risks.
- Process occupancy permits, maintain records, manage fees, and prepare reports.
- Assess the need for security measures based on proposed work's scope and engineering estimates.
- Review insurance documents for permitted projects.
- Train staff on using various measuring tools.
- Evaluate the impact of proposed developments on neighboring properties.
Requirements
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate; or
- Successful completion of the Civil Engineer Trainee training program; or
- Four years of civil engineering experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology; or
- One year of civil engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
