About the position

The Assistant Editor at The Public Interest Network plays a crucial role in supporting the Creative Team by writing, editing, and proofreading content that motivates and informs the public about environmental and social issues. This position is designed for a detail-oriented individual who is passionate about creating positive change and is committed to enhancing the writing skills of the team while managing significant projects effectively.

Responsibilities

• Connect with teams at PIRG, Environment America, and other groups to learn about issues and campaigns.
• Write, edit, and proofread stories that capture attention and motivate audiences.
• Train and lead staff in improving their writing and storytelling skills through various content formats.
• Organize and implement a content delivery plan that makes an impact.
• Pursue ongoing training and skill development to enhance editing and writing capabilities.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in writing and editing.
• Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity and structure.
• Ability to think critically and quickly understand complex issues.
• Experience in communicating effectively across different formats and audiences.
• Excellent organizational skills and judgment.

Nice-to-haves

• Proficiency in design tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Ability to analyze data and create meaningful visual representations.
