The Assistant Educator, Teen Programs at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) plays a vital role in shaping the experiences of youth aged 14-19 within the museum's educational framework. Reporting to the Director of Young Learners, this position is designed to foster a welcoming environment for teens, connecting them to modern and contemporary art while promoting their collegiate, professional, artistic, and social-emotional development. The Assistant Educator will engage participants through a variety of strategies, including hands-on artmaking, workshops with contemporary artists, career development opportunities, exclusive gallery tours, and teen-led events. The overarching goal of these programs is to empower teens, enhance their creativity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and cultural awareness. In this role, the Assistant Educator will be responsible for the coordination and administration of teen programs, which includes planning, budget tracking, outreach, and managing communication with participants. The position requires a proactive approach to liaising between departments to ensure the successful production and marketing of programs. The Assistant Educator will also provide onsite support during events, which may occur on weekends and evenings, and will maintain ongoing communication with the public regarding programming. The Assistant Educator will contribute to the strategic planning of current and future teen programs, ensuring alignment with the Young Learners vision and mission. This includes managing supplies for events, developing relationships with cultural partners and artists, and participating in the research and development of new initiatives for teens.
