The Power group at Burns & McDonnell is responsible for the planning, design, and startup of various power generation technologies, including gas turbines, solar energy, batteries, hydrogen, carbon capture, and nuclear plant services. The Assistant Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in assisting project teams to create world-class designs for a diverse range of projects. These projects encompass power generation, process facilities, corporate buildings, healthcare institutions, airports, educational facilities, industrial sites, manufacturing plants, government buildings, and military installations. In this role, the Assistant Electrical Engineer will collaborate with the project team throughout the design and construction phases, adapting electrical plans to meet budget constraints, design factors, and client needs. The responsibilities include assisting in the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through to design completion. The engineer will also modify and review production drawings for various projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards. The Assistant Electrical Engineer will be involved in designing electrical components that meet the requirements set forth by project managers. This includes applying basic knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry. The role also involves conducting research and compiling project-related data as required by project managers, correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers, and assisting with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration. Field inspections, measurements, and calculations for both public and private clients will also be part of the job responsibilities. The Assistant Electrical Engineer will perform other duties as assigned and must comply with all company policies and standards.
