About the position
The Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) position at the New York Office of General Services involves performing engineering design and redesign or review of plumbing, piping, fire protection systems, and heating and ventilating systems for new and rehabilitation construction projects. These projects may require design changes for mechanical systems of existing facilities, which can present complex problems to ensure compatibility with existing building structures. The role includes preparing mechanical specifications, estimates, and studies for energy conservation related to mechanical design projects, supervising and reviewing consultant work, and performing other assigned duties. The position also entails a full range of supervisory duties and may require some travel.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering design and redesign or review of plumbing, piping, fire protection systems, and heating and ventilating systems for construction projects.
- Prepare mechanical specifications, mechanical estimates, and studies for energy conservation for mechanical design projects.
- Supervise and review consultant work.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform the full range of supervisory duties.
- Some travel may be required.
Requirements
- Proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) exam.
- A bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or engineering technology, or one year of full-time qualifying experience in mechanical engineering.
