About the position

The Assistant Environmental Engineer will support project teams in designing and implementing environmental solutions for various projects, including high-voltage transmission lines, power generation, and water treatment facilities. This role involves collaborating with licensed professional engineers to adapt environmental plans based on project requirements and constraints throughout the design and construction phases.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the environmental design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects including power plants, industrial facilities, and healthcare facilities.
  • Design environmental components based on project needs and requirements set by project managers.
  • Apply knowledge of environmental engineering concepts, principles, and practices within the industry.
  • Conduct research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Correct and update drawings provided by senior engineers using CAD software.
  • Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam required.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge in standard environmental and civil engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic computer skills in AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), and 3D Rendering Programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
