About the position

GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Environmental Specialist 3 to provide project management support for environmental consulting projects primarily related to the energy industry. The role involves task management support for project managers, focusing on environmental impact assessments, permitting, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative team environment, ensuring timely project delivery while mentoring and directing staff.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate environmental resource investigations, including wetland and stream delineations and endangered species surveys.
• Complete environmental reporting, permitting, and regulatory compliance related to various environmental acts.
• Manage project tasks including budgets, scheduling, and execution.
• Track and communicate progress toward project milestones and budgetary constraints.
• Manage agency consultations and client communications, building strong relationships with clients and review agencies.
• Demonstrate strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
• Work independently or as part of a team, with a flexible approach to multiple projects.

Requirements

• 3 to 4 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related field.
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or a similar field of study.
• Strong technical writing ability and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel, predominantly for regional day trips.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ecological field data collection and wetland delineations.
• Knowledge of regulatory agency applications and requirements.
