About the position

The Assistant Executive Housekeeper plays a crucial role in ensuring that the housekeeping department operates in alignment with brand and hotel standards, as well as sustainability practices, to maintain a high level of guest satisfaction. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping staff, ensuring cleanliness and safety in guest rooms and public areas, and addressing guest inquiries and complaints. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper is expected to uphold the core values of HHM Hotels while fostering a positive work environment for associates. In this role, the Assistant Executive Housekeeper will be responsible for interviewing, selecting, training, and scheduling staff, ensuring that all associates perform their duties in accordance with established standards. Regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas will be conducted to ensure cleanliness and safety, and the Assistant Executive Housekeeper will monitor staff performance to ensure efficient operations. Additionally, this position requires the preparation of schedules based on occupancy levels, inventory management, and the submission of periodic orders for supplies. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper will also be tasked with developing and implementing policies and procedures for the housekeeping department, following sustainability guidelines as part of HHM's EarthView program. Safety is a priority, and the Assistant Executive Housekeeper must practice safe work habits, adhere to MSDS and OSHA standards, and participate in safety committees as directed. This position may also involve other duties as requested by management, contributing to the overall success of the hotel operations.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support associates, ensuring they perform in accordance with established brand or hotel standards and consistent with HHM core values.
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas and grounds for cleanliness, appearance and safety.
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and service and resolve guests' complaints and concerns.
  • Observe and monitor staff performance to ensure efficient operations and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Prepare schedules based upon occupancy and assign duties to workers and schedule shifts or notify vendor of weekly staffing needs.
  • Take inventory and submit periodic inventory orders to ensure supplies are purchased timely.
  • Prepare required paperwork pertaining to departmental functions.
  • Be aware of and communicate guest service scores to drive improvement and higher guest satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the operation of the department or the hotel.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM's EarthView program.
  • Practice safe work habits; follow MSDS and OSHA standards; wear protective safety equipment and participate in safety committees as directed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years previous housekeeping supervisor experience required.
