The Assistant Executive Housekeeper plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the hotel, ensuring that guests have a pleasant and comfortable experience. This position involves directing the housekeeping program of the hotel, which includes supervising the housekeeping staff, providing training, and ensuring adherence to company quality standards. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper will personally perform various duties or delegate them to subordinate supervisors, ensuring that all areas of the hotel are kept in pristine condition. In this role, the Assistant Executive Housekeeper will supervise the work activities of the housekeeping staff, which includes distributing keys and work assignments, addressing guest complaints, and monitoring linen and guest supply inventory. The position also requires the Assistant Executive Housekeeper to assist the General Manager in selecting housekeeping personnel and to ensure that the staff is practicing efficient and effective procedures. Regular inspections of rooms, including deep cleans, are essential to maintain the hotel's quality standards. The Assistant Executive Housekeeper will also be responsible for reporting maintenance repairs to the maintenance staff, completing follow-ups on vacant or occupied rooms, and managing lost and found items. This position requires a strong focus on customer service, problem-solving, and teamwork, as the Assistant Executive Housekeeper will need to manage difficult situations and maintain a positive team spirit. Overall, this role is vital for the smooth operation of the hotel's housekeeping department and contributes significantly to guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises work activities of housekeeping staff
  • Provides training, including safety training and standard operating procedures to all housekeeping personnel as directed by management
  • Ensures adherence to company quality standards by inspecting rooms, including deep cleans
  • Distributes keys and work assignments to staff
  • Addresses guest complaints regarding housekeeping service or equipment
  • Assists General Manager in the selection of housekeeping personnel
  • Assists management staff of hotel in assuring housekeeping staff is practicing efficient and effective procedures
  • Monitors linen and guest supply inventory
  • Reports any maintenance repairs to maintenance staff; records repair information in maintenance log
  • Completes follow-up on vacant or occupied rooms
  • Assumes function of Housekeeper as necessary
  • Takes control of lost and found items as appropriate
  • All other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college, or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
