The Assistant Facilities Director is tasked with ensuring that both bid projects and in-house projects are executed according to college standards and within a timely manner. This includes effective communication with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure the design and completion of projects meet the college's requirements. In addition to project oversight, the Assistant Facilities Director is responsible for attending progress meetings for major projects, completing tasks assigned by the Facilities Director or Vice President of Administration, and assisting in the scheduling of maintenance needs for special events. The role also involves coordinating maintenance and facilities needs at branch sites, supporting the grounds department with equipment repairs, and managing fleet vehicle maintenance. Furthermore, the Assistant Facilities Director aids in the coordination of salvage and surplus equipment disposal or relocation, ensuring that all programs that are relocated or newly established have the necessary plumbing, lighting, and electrical support. A critical aspect of this position is to ensure that proper safety practices are adhered to by both employees and contractors, thereby maintaining a safe working environment for all. Responsibilities

  • Assists in day-to-day repair and maintenance issues as they arise
  • Ensures both bid projects and in-house projects are installed to college standards, and progress in a timely manner
  • Communicates with architects, engineers, and contractors on design and completion of projects
  • Attends progress meetings of major projects
  • Completes tasks as assigned by Facilities Director and/or VPA
  • Assists in the scheduling of special events needs as it pertains to maintenance and/or facilities
  • Assists with the coordination of maintenance and facilities needs on branch sites
  • Assists with needs of grounds department, i.e. parts for equipment, scheduling repairs to equipment, drop off and pick up of equipment
  • Assists in the coordination of fleet vehicle maintenance
  • Assists Asset/Facilities Manager in the coordination of salvage and surplus equipment disposal or relocation
  • Assists in the needs of programs that are relocated or new with plumbing, lighting and electrical needs
  • Assures proper safety practices are being followed by employees and contractors

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of experience in facilities management which included supervision of multiple operations such as repair and maintenance, space management, security, site selection and facility construction
