About the position

As an Assistant Field Service Technician at Stellar Energy Americas Inc., you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and technical support in the field. This full-time position is based in Jacksonville, FL, and reports directly to the Field Service Superintendent. You will work under the supervision of a Field Service Technician, assisting in troubleshooting, remediation, implementation, commissioning, testing, and consulting on electrical, mechanical, and automation components and systems. Your responsibilities will include both onsite and remote support, ensuring that customer needs are met with efficiency and professionalism. In this role, you will be expected to diagnose and repair chilled water systems and ancillary components in a field environment, utilizing your knowledge of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls equipment. You will operate standard service tools and electrical testing equipment, perform PLC I/O checkout procedures, and calibrate variable frequency drives and instrumentation. Your ability to read and interpret engineered drawings, such as P&IDs and wiring schematics, will be essential in executing your duties effectively. The position requires a self-starter with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, who can exceed customer expectations. You will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance activities, completing daily Field Service Reports, and providing customer training upon project completion. The work environment is primarily in construction sites and industrial plants, requiring adherence to safety policies and practices. You will need to be adaptable to changing situations and possess strong technical and organizational skills to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical, mechanical, and automation support to customers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair chilled water systems and ancillary components in the field.
  • Operate standard service tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Perform PLC I/O checkout procedures and troubleshoot issues.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and monitor variable frequency drives and instrumentation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on chilled water system components.
  • Utilize Windows-based programs such as Excel and Word.
  • Communicate with customers in a professional manner.
  • Complete daily Field Service Reports and submit to management.
  • Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in mechanical, control, or electrical field services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of programming languages such as Ladder Logic and Structured Text.
  • OSHA safety experience.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation and ABB VFD Drives.
  • Trained in Rockwell Automation PLC and HMI systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repair capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal vocational training with emphasis on industrial instrumentation.
  • Rockwell Automation Certification.
  • ISA Certification.
  • Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) registration or relevant training courses.
  • Experience with PLC Programming Logic (Allen Bradley and Siemens).
  • Previous equipment startup and commissioning experience.
  • Microsoft certifications for Rockwell products.
