About the position

The Assistant Financial Business Transformation Manager will play a crucial role in optimizing financial business performance across the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in Washington. This position involves leading efforts to implement new financial processes and systems, particularly in preparation for the statewide financial system known as Workday. The role requires collaboration with various internal teams to enhance financial operations and ensure the effective management of the agency's substantial budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee OFBE's efforts to optimize financial-business performance across the agency.
  • Collaborate with financial business managers to standardize policies, processes, and tools.
  • Serve as the assistant lead and expert for all project phases of the implementation of Workday.
  • Design and implement new financial policies, processes, and procedures for Workday.
  • Analyze and improve DNR's financial business operations and competencies.
  • Research and develop recommendations to solve business problems related to financial processes.

Requirements

  • An associate degree or higher in accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience totaling five years.
  • Three or more years performing professional-level accounting-related functions.
  • Experience analyzing processes, procedures, and financial data.
  • Ability to learn state and agency financial systems and their relationships with business processes.
  • Knowledge of management principles, finance, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree with 18 quarter or 12 semester college-level credit hours in accounting or a related field.
  • Three years' experience in state government financial management or accounting.
  • Working knowledge of the state's Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and related tools.
  • Knowledge of DNR's financial systems and organizational structure.
