The Assistant Financial Controller will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This position involves a variety of general accounting functions, including leading the financial operations, assisting in accounts payable, and managing fixed asset reporting. The Assistant Financial Controller will report directly to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for applying general principles of accounting, reviewing and analyzing financial information, and preparing comprehensive financial reports. Key responsibilities include maintaining the accuracy of the System's financial statements and general ledger accounts, ensuring timely completion and review of significant balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations and audits. The role also encompasses managing the month-end close process, which involves developing and maintaining a monthly closing calendar, monitoring departmental activities to meet closing deadlines, and analyzing significant accounts. The Assistant Financial Controller will communicate month-end financial results, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Capital Spending Summaries, and Financial Ratios and Statistics. In addition, the Assistant Financial Controller will be responsible for the annual financial audit, coordinating interim and annual audit fieldwork, preparing workpapers, and ensuring accurate financial reporting and footnote disclosures. The position also requires the completion of external reports to comply with governmental reporting requirements, including Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and IRS tax returns. The Assistant Financial Controller will develop and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with established procedures and safeguard the System's financial assets. The role includes governance financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely completion of financial reports for various presentations to the System's Boards and Committees. The Assistant Financial Controller will also manage treasury functions, acting as a liaison with banking institutions, approving ACH/Wire payments, and overseeing the treasury management process. Additional responsibilities include assisting with accounts payable workflows, overseeing joint ventures, reviewing capital expenditures, analyzing accounts receivable, and monitoring Medicare and Medicaid settlements.
