About the position

The Assistant Front Office Manager at Sonesta Austin is responsible for supporting the Director of Rooms in managing the front office operations. This role involves training staff, overseeing guest services, and ensuring smooth front office functions, including handling reservations, guest issues, and special requests.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Rooms in managing front office functions.
  • Train staff on service expectations and hotel procedures.
  • Oversee guest service representative tasks and ensure superior service.
  • Manage late checkout and stay over requests.
  • Oversee room changes and showroom sales.
  • Ensure timely printing of computer-generated reports.
  • Prepare for VIP and group arrivals.
  • Complete credit check reports for each shift.
  • Log guest issues and update profiles accordingly.
  • Clear room discrepancies and block special room requests.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly control desk area.
  • Present a polished and professional image to guests and coworkers.
  • Complete shift checklist duties and alert management if assistance is needed.
  • Coordinate out of order rooms with housekeeping and engineering.
  • Ensure posting of all charges and inspect associates for grooming standards.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and prepare department schedules.
  • Monitor Travel Pass enrollment and advocate goals.
  • Manage ADP for scheduling and payroll corrections.
  • Assist in controlling expenses and preparing the departmental budget.
  • Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms and suites.

Requirements

  • Mid-level experience in hotel management or front office operations.
  • Strong leadership and training skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Familiarity with property management and reservations systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Guestware and Travel Pass systems.
  • Knowledge of hotel financial planning and budgeting.
