About the position

The Assistant Fund Accounting Manager at Alter Domus is responsible for overseeing a team of Associate Fund Accountants and Fund Accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with industry standards. This role involves mentoring staff, managing client interactions, and preparing detailed financial reports for stakeholders. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate complex financial scenarios while supporting the growth and development of team members.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 1-2 Associate Fund Accountants or Fund Accountants with potential for growth.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Fund Accountants, training new employees and prioritizing their work.
  • Administer, report, review, and understand industry standards in fund accounting.
  • Respond to auditor queries and ensure compliance with internal audit procedures.
  • Prepare/review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for investors and stakeholders, including financial information and performance returns.
  • Calculate and review various performance returns and support cash distributions for clients.
  • Review and analyze accounting records and financial statements for accuracy and compliance with reporting standards.
  • Sign off as reviewer on SOC1 checklist and support SOC external audit requests.
  • Demonstrate leadership by leading projects and offering input on team processes.
  • Review documents in compliance with client agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in fund accounting or a related area.
  • Credit accounting experience preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of investments within assigned funds.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with professional accreditations such as ACCA.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
