About the position

The Assistant Fund Accounting Manager at Alter Domus is responsible for overseeing a team of Associate Fund Accountants or Fund Accountants, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and managing the preparation and review of financial reports for clients and stakeholders. This role emphasizes leadership, mentorship, and the development of accounting and analytical skills while fostering communication with clients and investors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 1-2 Associate Fund Accountants or Fund Accountants with potential for growth.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of Fund Accountants, training new employees and prioritizing their work.
  • Administer, report, review, and understand industry standards.
  • Respond to auditor queries and ensure compliance with internal audit procedures.
  • Prepare/review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for investors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
  • Calculate and review various performance returns and support cash distributions on behalf of clients.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret accounting records and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Sign off as reviewer on SOC1 checklist and support SOC external audit requests.
  • Develop leadership skills by leading projects and offering input.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of governing agreements between Alter Domus, clients, and investors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in fund accounting or related area.
  • Credit Accounting experience preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of investments within assigned fund(s).
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage 2 staff members with potential for growth.
  • Ability to perform multiple projects and navigate unexpected challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with professional accreditations such as ACCA.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards and compliance.
