About the position

The Assistant General Counsel for Global Litigation at Jabil will play a crucial role in managing and resolving global commercial and employment claims, disputes, and litigation. This position requires a seasoned litigation attorney who will work closely with various legal functions, business teams, and outside counsel to develop effective resolution strategies and provide tactical legal counsel. The role is based in St. Petersburg, Florida, and involves significant collaboration across the organization to improve investigation processes and mitigate legal risks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective resolution strategies for global commercial and employment claims, disputes, and litigation.
  • Provide daily tactical counsel and innovative legal solutions to challenging issues facing Jabil's global business units.
  • Lead and support investigations and collaborate with other functions to improve Jabil's investigation processes.
  • Navigate competing workflows, set appropriate priorities with internal stakeholders, and drive results within agreed timelines.
  • Exercise mature and reliable judgment in making and articulating determinations regarding legal risks and benefits.
  • Develop, update, and advise on existing and proposed policies and processes in collaboration with legal functions and business stakeholders.
  • Manage commercial and labor & employment litigation, pre-litigation disputes, and claims efficiently and proactively.
  • Manage outside counsel including engagement, document retention and production, discovery, budgets, staffing, and strategy.
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks by developing and delivering training programs for business leaders on relevant laws and best practices.
  • Draft demand letters, pleadings, discovery, settlement agreements, and other contractual agreements.
  • Collaborate with key internal clients to identify and drive process improvements, develop templates, and risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • J.D. or equivalent degree and a member in good standing of a State Bar.
  • 8-11 years of litigation experience, preferably in both law firm and in-house settings of a global industrial company.
  • Strong knowledge of civil procedure and discovery process.
  • Fluency in business principles to communicate with and influence business leaders.
  • Experience using a commercial business-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in litigation and ability to manage in-house practice across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to proactively lead and drive change aligned to corporate priorities and strategic goals.
  • Experience in setting and managing budgets and leading outside counsel.
  • High level of integrity and trust with a strong ethical center.
  • Superior legal writing and analytical skills with excellent judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to establish and meet short- and long-term deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to influence and build relationships at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • International litigation experience is a plus.
  • Fluency in a second language, such as Spanish or Mandarin, is a plus.
