About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring high levels of guest and associate satisfaction. The AGM is responsible for managing hourly staff, ensuring compliance with safety and security procedures, and driving initiatives to enhance revenue and operational efficiency. This role requires hands-on leadership and a commitment to providing exceptional service to guests and associates alike.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in managing hotel operations and staff.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
• Promote guest satisfaction and resolve service issues promptly.
• Train and oversee hourly staff, ensuring they meet performance standards.
• Participate in budgetary control measures and monitor labor costs.
• Engage with guests to identify needs and generate leads for future travel.
• Conduct inspections of guest rooms and hotel facilities.
• Manage purchase orders and inventory for hotel supplies.
• Act as the manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Prior hotel experience in hospitality or retail establishment is required.
• Ability to supervise and manage a team of 8 to 15 hourly staff.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to operate property management system technology.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership ability is desired.
• Some job-related college level courses preferred.
