About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring high levels of guest and associate satisfaction. The AGM is responsible for managing hourly staff, ensuring compliance with safety and security procedures, and driving company initiatives to enhance revenue and guest experiences. This role requires hands-on leadership and a commitment to fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in managing hotel operations and staff.
  • Ensure all associates are trained and comply with company policies.
  • Promote guest satisfaction and resolve service issues promptly.
  • Drive compliance with safety and security guidelines at the property level.
  • Maximize revenues and meet budgeted EBITDA targets.
  • Participate in interviewing, onboarding, and training new associates.
  • Supervise daily activities of hourly staff and promote teamwork.
  • Assist in budgetary control measures and monitor labor costs.
  • Serve as the manager on duty in the absence of the GM.
  • Inspect guest rooms and ensure cleanliness and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Prior hotel experience in a hospitality or retail establishment is required.
  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Supervisory skills to oversee daily activities of 8 to 15 hourly staff.
  • Ability to operate property management system technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability is desired.
  • Some job-related college level courses preferred.
