About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Marriott Downtown Syracuse plays a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of the hotel, focusing on guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, and sales generation. The AGM assists the General Manager in implementing strategies that align with brand standards and ensures a high level of service is maintained throughout the property. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to build relationships with both guests and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of hotel operations including guest and employee satisfaction, financial performance, and sales generation.
  • Assist the General Manager in leading the team and implementing property-wide strategies.
  • Ensure brand service strategy and initiatives are met to exceed guest expectations.
  • Oversee the operation of all property departments and maintain brand standards.
  • Manage finance and accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking procedures.
  • Review financial statements and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Promote a safe working environment in compliance with OSHA/MSDS regulations.
  • Lead and develop departmental teams, providing coaching and support as needed.
  • Motivate staff to address guest concerns and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related area; OR a 2-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major with 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage financial operations and analyze performance data.
