About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Jester Concepts plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant. This position involves assisting the General Manager with daily operations, staff training, inventory management, and enhancing the overall guest experience. The AGM is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, service, and staff accountability while fostering a positive work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the restaurant's general operations.
  • Ensure daily cleanliness and proper maintenance of the restaurant.
  • Coordinate training for front-of-house (FOH) staff and enforce company policies.
  • Address and document employee misconduct and incidents.
  • Build and support a respectful and positive staff culture.
  • Enhance the guest experience through active presence and engagement.
  • Gather customer feedback and establish relationships with guests.
  • Monitor drink and food ticket times for timely service.
  • Manage ongoing training programs for staff on service standards.
  • Assist with financial responsibilities including chargebacks, banking, and reporting.
  • Develop schedules for FOH staff and make staffing decisions as needed.
  • Assist the General Manager with administrative duties and respond to reviews.
  • Manage the store's social media and contribute to weekly meetings.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of previous experience in restaurant management, preferably as an AGM or similar role.
  • Strong beverage background including bartending and bar management.
  • Exceptional knowledge of liquor, beer, and wine.
  • Understanding of food handling practices and hospitality management principles.
  • Experience with inventory control systems and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate staff and foster teamwork.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in wine buying and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of event sales and beverage requests.
