About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Tartine Bakery is a leadership role focused on ensuring smooth and efficient service while promoting a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests. This position involves engaging with customers, supporting front-of-house operations, and maintaining high standards of food quality and service. The AGM will work closely with the management team to enhance the overall guest experience and uphold the mission of Tartine.

Responsibilities

• Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Tartine.
• Actively engage with guests and maintain a floor presence.
• Support the front-of-house staff in day-to-day operations.
• Fill in wherever necessary to ensure tasks are completed.
• Perform service tasks such as clearing tables and running food and drinks when needed.
• Ensure every Tartine guest feels warm and welcome.
• Maintain the store in pristine order at all times.
• Ensure all food and products are prepared and served according to Tartine quality standards.
• Communicate effectively with back-of-house management to ensure appropriate ticket times and positive synergy between teams.

Requirements

• 2-3 years in a lead role in the service industry.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Ability to develop positive working relationships with staff.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and listening.
• Ability to adapt and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
• Familiarity with restaurant apps and technology.
• Commitment to excellent hospitality.
• Knowledge of California wage and hours labor laws.
• Understanding of P&L and ability to track and manage operational costs.
