About the position

The Assistant General Manager at Panera plays a crucial role in leading a team within a popular neighborhood bakery-cafe. This position focuses on supporting the General Manager in managing overall operations, enhancing customer experiences, and driving profitability while fostering a culture of warmth, belonging, growth, and trust among team members.

Responsibilities

  • Build a culture of Warmth, Belonging, Growth, and Trust.
  • Ensure extraordinary guest experiences and build customer relationships.
  • Support the General Manager in making key decisions and solving problems.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the cafe team.
  • Plan and manage staffing needs, shift scheduling, and career development.
  • Hire and train new team members, keeping the team motivated and engaged.
  • Manage team performance to meet cafe goals and quality standards.
  • Coach managers and associates on responsibilities and delegate tasks accordingly.
  • Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements.
  • Ensure high-quality operations and service, maintaining Panera's standards of excellence.
  • Motivate the team to meet and exceed cafe goals.
  • Adhere to cafe systems and processes for day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain food safety standards and a healthy workplace.
  • Grow sales and maximize profitability through effective management.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to direct, motivate, coach, and develop others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to drive positive results and run great shifts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the business.
  • ServSafe certification required.
  • At least 18 years of age.
