About the position

The Food and Beverage/Operations Assistant General Manager at Oak View Group will oversee all food and beverage operations at a premier private high school for elite athletes. This role is crucial for ensuring top-quality service and efficient operations across various dining venues on campus, including the main cafeteria and multiple restaurant franchises. The position requires strong management skills, a commitment to service excellence, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in planning, directing, and managing day-to-day operations of the venue.
  • Maintain active contact with the Client/Contract Administrator and monitor compliance with management contracts.
  • Promote facility utilization and negotiate lease agreements as necessary.
  • Negotiate contracts with event organizers and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and implement corporate directives related to training, quality assurance, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Develop and implement facility goals in line with management contracts and corporate policies.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary reports for the Client/Contract Administrator and Corporate Office.
  • Plan, organize, and direct all activities and personnel for facility operations.
  • Assist in developing and administering operating and capital budgets.
  • Recruit, lead, motivate, and evaluate director-level staff, providing training as needed.
  • Work with departmental directors to manage daily operations and resolve deficiencies.
  • Continuously improve operations and streamline processes for quality customer service.
  • Develop and implement venue programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee contract service partners and develop comprehensive management reports and manuals.
  • Participate in interdepartmental projects and conduct operational studies.
  • Represent the General Manager at meetings and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Provide high-level customer service at all times.

Requirements

  • BA or BS with a business-related major; accounting minor preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years management experience in the food-related or concessions industry.
  • Certification from a nationally recognized advanced food service sanitation training course.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions quickly under pressure.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, POS systems, and timekeeping systems.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of concessions and premium services operations, including safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Valid Food Handlers certificate and Alcohol Service Permit as required by local laws.
  • Ability to perform basic and complex math functions accurately.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in managing large-scale events or venues.
  • Knowledge of inventory cost control and menu planning.
  • Familiarity with customer service best practices in the food and beverage industry.
