About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Call Your Mother (CYM) plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the shop, supporting the General Manager (GM) in all aspects of management, including kitchen operations, front of house service, and team development. The AGM acts as the GM in their absence, ensuring high standards of service and operational efficiency while fostering a positive work environment and maintaining profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the shop while acting as the manager-on-duty.
  • Proactively solve any problems that arise at the shop and take initiative to keep the shop running efficiently.
  • Manage and lead shop and kitchen supervisors, and team members to ensure the best service is provided to guests.
  • Create a positive, efficient work environment for the whole team.
  • Support high operational standards by adhering to checklists, recipe specs, and other standardized tools.
  • Manage maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and the shop's surroundings.
  • Focus on ServeSafe food safety standards and commitment to shop safety.
  • Collaborate with GM on food and beverage management, including inventory, ordering, and budget.
  • Assist GM in recruiting, hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations of team members.
  • Confirm that scheduling each shift and position is covered effectively.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant management role.
  • Foundational understanding of P&L, cost of goods sold, labor/scheduling, training & team development, and food quality standards.
  • ServeSafe Manager's Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining required standards of operation.
  • Hospitality-oriented with a passion for the guest experience.
  • Hands-on managing style and willingness to lead by example.
  • Proactive with a big-picture mindset.
  • High-energy, positive attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to treat others with kindness and respect.
