About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Call Your Mother Deli plays a crucial role in supporting the General Manager (GM) in overseeing daily operations of the shop. This position involves managing kitchen operations, front of house service, and team development while ensuring the shop's profitability. The AGM acts as the GM in their absence, focusing on guest satisfaction, team motivation, and adherence to operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the shop while acting as the manager-on-duty.
• Proactively solve any problems that arise at the shop.
• Manage and lead shop and kitchen supervisors, and team members to ensure excellent service.
• Create a positive, efficient work environment for the team.
• Support high operational standards by adhering to checklists and recipe specifications.
• Manage maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and shop surroundings.
• Focus on ServeSafe food safety standards and shop safety.
• Collaborate with GM on food and beverage management, including inventory and budget.
• Assist GM in recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating team members.
• Confirm scheduling for each shift and position, addressing any issues that arise.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant management role.
• Foundational understanding of P&L, cost of goods sold, labor/scheduling, and food quality standards.
• ServeSafe Manager's Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining operational standards.
• Hospitality-oriented with a passion for guest experience.
• Hands-on management style with a proactive approach.
