Assistant General Manager Equipment/Rail Rolling Stock (AGMRE) is a direct report to the GM and has the principal responsibility for leading, managing and coordinating the Contractor's performance for all railroad rolling stock including locomotive, cab cars, trailer cars and a small fleet of MOW support cars - ballast, air dumps, flats. In addition to maintenance of the rolling stock fleet this position oversees Rail Rolling Stock rehabilitation, capital and third-party programs and support services.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely and collaboratively with other Contractor AGMs, particularly the AGM Procurement/Inventory AGM Rail Infrastructure and AGM Information Technology Systems.
  • Develop the annual scope and budget(s) for maintenance and support services.
  • Oversee directives for signals, active warning devices, communication systems, wayside train control systems.
  • Perform much of the rail rolling stock work during 'off peak' commuter traffic periods - nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ensure the maintenance work is performed at the main maintenance facility and satellite facilities.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain the fleet of equipment according to Contract requirements with a focus on safety and minimizing delays.
  • Respond promptly to incidents that could delay trains and recover service.
  • Support the effort to provide Work Directive Proposals for rolling stock modifications.
  • Collaborate with AGM Information Technology and AGM Procurement/Inventory to achieve a digital paperless working environment.
  • Manage budgets and deliver superior service under budgetary constraints.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent management and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Programs.
  • Knowledgeable with application of new technology to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Proven management experience in managing subcontract, supplier, vendor contracts.
  • Ability to develop and establish programs, practices, standards, and procedures for passenger safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with public agencies, preferably commuter railroads.
  • Knowledge of FRA and other State and local regulations related to contracted operations.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $108,000.00 to $162,000.00 depending on experience/qualifications.
