About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at The Grill, East Bank Club, is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional member experiences, and maintaining high-quality service standards. This role involves managing front-of-house components, training staff, and acting as the General Manager in their absence. The AGM plays a crucial role in fostering a positive work environment and developing staff to excel in their roles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of The Grill, sundeck, and Juicebar.
  • Ensure exceptional member experiences and high-quality service standards.
  • Delegate tasks to staff to improve member experience.
  • Monitor staff morale and performance, ensuring good execution of service.
  • Lead training and continuing education for front-of-house staff.
  • Act as General Manager in their absence, performing necessary duties.
  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with members.
  • Respond to guest complaints professionally and represent East Bank Club.
  • Develop and maintain department control and cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure staff compliance with uniform standards and positive attitudes.
  • Administer testing of menu items for front-of-house staff as required by GM.
  • Lead pre-service meetings to communicate changes and expectations to service staff.
  • Develop and oversee service staff schedules and payroll.
  • Manage dining room setup and breakdown before and after service periods.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the restaurant industry, full service.
  • Experience in training others in policies and procedures related to the front-of-house department.
  • Ability to provide exemplary guest care and hospitality.
  • Strong multitasking skills while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Experience in developing goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the front-of-house department.
  • Demonstrated courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with members and staff.
  • Ability to respond well to feedback and communicate professionally with others.
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Silverware, cost-of-sales, and profit and loss.
  • Excellent operational and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work 45+ hours a week when necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work on feet for long periods.
