About the position

The Assistant General Manager at The Roof is responsible for overseeing daily restaurant operations, including managing staff, ensuring high standards of service and sanitation, and enhancing guest satisfaction. This role involves menu planning, training staff, and maximizing financial performance while maintaining compliance with food and beverage policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and manages employees and daily restaurant operations.
  • Maintains service and sanitation standards in restaurant, bar/lounge, and room service areas.
  • Reviews staffing levels to meet guest service and operational needs.
  • Utilizes interpersonal skills to lead and influence the food and beverage team.
  • Encourages mutual trust and cooperation among team members.
  • Identifies developmental needs of staff and provides coaching and mentoring.
  • Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ensures compliance with food & beverage policies and applicable laws.
  • Provides exceptional customer service and handles guest complaints.
  • Implements training programs to improve employee performance and retention.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in food and beverage or related area, or a 2-year degree in Food Service Management or related field with 2 years of experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage day-to-day operations and staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of food handling and sanitation standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a managerial role within the food and beverage industry.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and Federal liquor laws.
  • Previous experience in customer service roles.
