About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) at Call Your Mother Deli in Vienna, VA, plays a crucial role in supporting the General Manager (GM) in overseeing daily operations of the deli. This position involves managing kitchen operations, front-of-house service, and team development while ensuring the shop's profitability and adherence to high operational standards. The AGM is expected to lead by example, maintain a positive work environment, and uphold the deli's core values of Vibrancy, Integrity, Energy, Belonging, and Seizing the Moment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the shop while acting as the manager-on-duty.
  • Proactively solve any problems that arise at the shop and take initiative to keep the shop running efficiently.
  • Manage and lead shop and kitchen supervisors, and team members to ensure the best service is provided to guests.
  • Create a positive, efficient work environment for the whole team.
  • Support high operational standards by holding yourself and team members to provided checklists and recipe specs.
  • Manage maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and the shop's surroundings.
  • Focus on ServeSafe food safety standards and commitment to shop safety.
  • Collaborate with GM on food and beverage management, including inventory, ordering, and budget.
  • Assist GM in recruiting, hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations of team members.
  • Confirm that scheduling each shift and position is covered effectively.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant management role.
  • Foundational understanding of P&L, cost of goods sold, labor/scheduling, training & team development, and food quality standards.
  • ServeSafe Manager's Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining required standards of operation.
  • Hospitality-oriented with a passion for the guest experience.
  • Hands-on managing style and willingness to lead by example.
  • Proactive with a big-picture mindset.
  • High-energy, positive attitude that thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to treat others with kindness and respect.
